TV REVIEW: Willow (Season 1, Episode 3) – The Battle of the Slaughtered Lamb
Time for a side quest! And another side quest! Plus, fading magic, two-headed rats, and Willow is a bit of a dick.
Time for a side quest! And another side quest! Plus, fading magic, two-headed rats, and Willow is a bit of a dick.
Wizard lessons get off to a rocky start for Elora. Plus, Kit can’t stop complaining, Madmartigan might not be a deadbeat after all, and is Willow just an OK sorcerer?
A new evil is rising, and only Willow’s magic will be able to stop it. Plus, an arranged marriage is averted, a future empress is revealed, and Madmartigan is slandered in his absence.
There’s a new director, a new Dumbledore, and a new artistic vision for the series. Plus, Lupin shines, the dementors are as scary as they need to be, and the Rat-Man nearly steals the show.
An unlikely hero and a scoundrel with a heart of gold must protect a newborn princess from the evil queen. Plus, murderous hellhounds, two-headed monsters, and pig-men—maybe it’s good I didn’t see this when I was seven!
Things get dark at Hogwarts as a crazed murderer is on the loose and after Harry. Plus, Hogwarts finally gets a competent teacher for DADA, Snape feels slighted by Dumbledore, and Slytherin’s Quidditch team uses the “Hack-a-Shaq” strategy at the dumbest possible time.
The Chamber of Secrets and some wild monsters come to life on screen. But it’s amazing how much important setup can get left out of a 2 hour 40 minute movie.
The Chamber of Secrets has been opened again – and the most badass fictional location since the Temple of Doom beckons Harry. Plus, nightmarish monsters run rampant… and so does wizarding bigotry. And we go a little overboard with the annoying new characters.
Hogwarts, quidditch, the “Dark” Forest, and the entire wizarding world come to life. This was my most anticipated movie ever when it came out in 2001… did it live up to the hype?
Kicking off my new site with my favorite book series. Harry discovers he’s a wizard, enters a world of magic, and comes face to face with pure evil. Also, my guy Dumbledore is awesome.
